Updates

31st July 2026 – 10 Downing Street has announced that the next Bishop of Leeds will be the Rt Revd Toby Howarth. He is currently the Area Bishop of Bradford and acting Bishop of Leeds. It is likely that he will be installed in each of the cathedrals across our Diocese in the Autumn. Dates for these will be announced later. We wish Bishop Toby well, and offer our prayers for his continued service in leading the Diocese.

24th July 2026 – As you may be aware, Karen retired in April this year, and we wish her well in retirement. The process of selecting a new Rector has begun. We have had meetings with the Archdeacon of Pontefract who, alongside our PCC and The Bishop of Wakefield, will assist us finding a replacement. We have to produce a brochure which any potential applicant will see before applying for the post. The process to produce this is underway.

However, all of our church activities are continuing as usual. We also have a team of priests who are able to cover our usual Sunday and midweek services, as well as Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals. And we are assisted in this by our Rural Dean. So in essence, it is business as usual.
